Stepping up to the plate to help Cyclone Debbie victims
17 April 2017

As Queensland locals, we’re no stranger to cyclones. When Tropical Cyclone Debbie unleashed on Far North Queensland in March, Gecko MMS was on call to restore power supply to our customers.
Named as the strongest tropical cyclone to hit Queensland since TC Yasi in 2011, Cyclone Debbie made landfall near Airlie Beach on March 28. As with previous cyclones, Gecko MMS stepped in with after-hours assistance to supply and deliver commercial generators and emergency facilities management services to the affected areas in Bowen, Proserpine and Mackay.
The generators and emergency equipment remained in place for up to two weeks, with our clients Cushman Wakefield for Department of Human Services, Westpac & Australia Post, and JLL for the Department of Immigration & Border Protection.
Gecko MMS also had our Mobile Command Centre ready to deploy to the disaster-affected region. Our Mobile Command Centre facility allows for our teams to freely move into affected areas without impeding on local resources that are often limited or overloaded from the effects of natural disasters such as cyclones, storms, floods and bushfires.
The Gecko MMS teams can now safely remain for extended periods directly in the affected communities, and provide real-time support and direction on the ground.
When disaster strikes, think of Gecko MMS – we will be ready to support your clients and their community.
